Builders Club is a student-led organization whose primary mission is to provide members with opportunities to service their community, build character, and develop leadership skills. Throughout the year, this club will run fundraisers for local organizations, such as Dover’s Hope House and Goyreb Children’s Hospital, and will support the school community by holding events during Random Week of Kindness and a school wide cleanup for Earth Day.

Chess Club ~ Mrs. Arencibia-Valdes

The goal of a chess club is to introduce students to a game that is more than just a game, therefore students of all experience and skill level are welcome. Besides being fun to learn, playing chess is about critical thinking and strategy. Students develop many mental skills that are useful in life, such as: logic, strategic and tactical thinking, planning and preparation, and problem-solving.

Our mission is to strengthen students’ emotional intelligence and mindfulness.

STEAM/Robotics ~ Mrs. Dworak

The STEAM/Robotics club is a place where students with an interest in those areas meet to work together, using hands-on activities, to design, create and build science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics related projects. In addition, you build your own robots and program them to perform specific tasks!

Student Council ~ Ms. Duffy

Dover Middle School’s Student Council is an association designed to promote school spirit and leadership among students. The purpose of the Student Council is to provide a forum for expression, plan special activities, and, most importantly, heighten our school’s overall morale. This is accomplished by the coordination of events, such as our annual Fall and Spring Fun Days and Spirit Week.

Yearbook Club ~ Ms. Venezia and Ms. Wong

The Yearbook Club is responsible for producing Dover Middle School’s annual yearbook. Students will have the opportunity to study basic photography, determine layout and design, and work with the team to carry out distribution. Additional Opportunities

Homework Center ~ Ms. Petersen and Ms. Tracy/Mrs. Karpinski

The homework center's goal is to help students be successful. This is achieved by offering students a place to go after school to study, work on an assignment, complete their homework, and/or get extra help. The center is staffed with teachers and peer tutors in order to assist all academic subjects. This drop-in center is open Monday – Thursday.

Jazz Band ~ Mr. Carmona

From traditional jazz to Latin to rock music, Dover Middle School’s Jazz Band covers it all. This band puts on school and community performances throughout the academic year. Current members of DMS’ concert band are selected to audition to become a part of this fantastic musical ensemble.

National Junior Honor Society ~ Ms. Petersen

The National Junior Honor Society is a prestigious national organization that recognizes outstanding middle school students. In addition to academic prowess, members in this society must demonstrate strong character, leadership abilities, a sense of citizenship, and a desire to service their community.

To be considered for membership, students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5. Students who meet the initial academic requirement will be informed, after the third marking period, that they are eligible for membership. Students who would like to be considered for the National Junior Honor Society should be sure to work hard inside and outside of the classroom.
